Random Acts of Blindness #4

I saw some of my foundation in the toilet the other day, and I thought WTH?  I didn’t really think more about it, until I saw it had been squirted on the wall too.  Two pumps.  When my husband asked me where the air freshener was (I had thrown the others out because they were empty), it all started to come together.  He got the first thing on “my” side of the bathroom that had a pump & thought my foundation was perfume!  He had sprayed it in the bathroom to freshen it up.

I have since put a bottle of orange blossom air freshener (homemade)  and some almond oil air freshener in the bathroom so my foundation, and anything else on my side of the sink with a pump, is safe.

About Noelle Campbell

This blog is about my life and how I see things. I write, I think, I dream, I do. I used to write a lot of fantasy until I realized I was living one. I was married to a deaf-blind Hobbit in a realm we created together. He passed away in 2014, but our life was interesting enough I think you might like it too.

  1. Having been through the random acts of blindess “wars” I recommend separate bathrooms if possible (my late husband insisted on it) and, if not, keeping your things in a container with sides so it’s easy to tell from the general clutter on a countertop.

Yes, the blind do sometimes end up with Preparation H or something else that is NOT toothpaste in their mouths. Insofar as possible, once I convinced Dan to learn a bit of braille I did a lot of labeling of items to make it easier for him. But he usually made sure there was more than one bathroom in the house that was his and woe betide anyone who moved anything. It got exciting once we had grandchildren.

I also stopped having pictures on hallway or stair walls because there is no safe place for them unless they are painted ON the wall. In fact, wherever it is possible for a person to go one must assume a blind family member will be – and if they can touch it they will find it.

    • We do pretty good with ‘sides’ and I actually AM going to paint a mural on the wall (instead of pictures) – but I don’t see now why i shouldn’t just do it everywhere 😀
